Ah, veracity By Rachael Daigle, Boise Weekly, Jan. 9, 2008
A group of intrepid wordsmiths specializing in that which lends itself to the truth rather than the stuff of fiction gathers twice monthly in the interest of bettering their skills. [Guest speakers] will do all the things one would expect at such an event, including talk about [their] book, gush about the illustriousness of being a writer and offer up advice for wannabes. And then [they’ll] discuss writers' salaries and completely dissuade [their] entire audience from pursuing the glory of a byline to instead head straight for a career in law. ________________
New group of nonfiction writers to meet Feb. 6 By Diane Ronayne, Idaho Statesman, Jan. 7, 2008
When plant ecologist Cindy Salo was laid off from her job, the self-styled “science geek” took a writing workshop in Colorado from award-winning author and naturalist Susan Tweit, and it changed her life. “I was so inspired that I came back to Boise and looked for a writing group to help me get started, but I couldn’t find one that did what I want to do: write nonfiction. I kept waiting for someone else to start one and finally decided I would.” It’s about time. Boise State University and College of Idaho now offer nonficiton writing classes, and their graduates, as well as many other Treasure Valley nonfiction writers, need ongoing support, information and inspiration. |
